ABILENE - Abilene Christian's No. 6 nationally ranked men's and women's tennis programs proved worthy of their ranking Friday after shutting out three opponents both at home and on the road.
The Wildcats' women's team improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 on its current road trip after beating Southern Indiana in a neutral-site dual in Paducha, Ky., followed by a 7-0 victory three hours away in Nashville against DI Lipscomb University of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Brittney Reed at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, the Wildcats won all 11 of their singles matches in straight sets, and their closest doubles decision was an 8-4 win posted by
Laura Mongin and Reed at No. 2 over Lipscomb's Elizabeth Keevil and Jenny Borck.
Head coach
Hutton Jones, however, noted that the wins vs. Lipscomb didn't come as easy as the scores suggest, and that his women's team will again be challenged Saturday by DI Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels were picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference behind Austin Peay and UT-Martin, which ACU beat Friday, 4-3.
The men's team, meanwhile, competing at the Teague Events Center, moved a match over .500 at 5-4 with its 9-0 win over the New Mexico Military Institute.

Hans Hach and
Nick Plum won their matches at No. 1 and 2 singles in straight sets, and continue to lead the Wildcats with seven wins each. Hach and Plum also combined forces at No. 1 doubles to blank Tony O'Connell and Jose Cobo, 8-0.
Hach remains undefeated in doubles at 7-0. Plum is 5-2.
The ACU men continue their homestand Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader featuring Hardin-Simmons and UT-Permian Basin.
