ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The sixth-ranked ACU Wildcats had no trouble with No. 45 Mesa State on Wednesday, knocking off the Lady Mavericks, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division II women's national tennis tournament at Sanlando Park.

The win pushes the Wildcats to 21-8 on the season, while Mesa State ends its season at 21-9.  The Wildcats now go on to play a Thursday quarterfinal match at 3 p.m. (central time) against either No. 1 BYU-Hawaii or No. 3 Lynn (Fla.), which was still being played late Wednesday night because of a lightning delay.

The Wildcats lost just two points in the entire match, both of them in doubles matches.

The Wildcats' No. 3 doubles tandem of Micah Hermsdorf and Lauren White posted the team's first point with an 8-0 win over Alison Grush and Skyler Nelson.

The No. 1 doubles team of Julia Mongin and Jaclyn Walker followed with an 8-1 win over Kaitlan Sera and Kelleen Sera, and then Cassie Carver and Hannah Kelley capped the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Victoria Sargent and Kate Lowder.

Kelley made it a 4-0 match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over  Cyndie Curtman at No. 5 singles, and then Hermsdorf put the finishing touches on the 5-0 win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
