ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats moved up two spots in this week's Golf World / Nike Golf Coaches' NCAA Division II national poll, which was released Wednesday morning.
The Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the nation this week after being ranked No. 7 in the country in the previous poll. ACU's chief Lone Star Conference rival, Central Oklahoma, took over the No. 1 spot in the country from Chico State (Calif.), which dropped to No. 3.
Central Oklahoma moved up from No. 4 in the country to No. 1 after winning the LSC championship last week in San Antonio. The Bronchos are the top seed in the field for next week's NCAA Division II South Central / Midwest Regional in Georgetown, Ky.
The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the South Central Region and will try to claim one of the five team spots in the NCAA Division II national tournament. The only other South Central Region team in this week's top 25 is Central Missouri, which enters next week's regional tournament as the No. 3 seed.
