ABILENE – The No. 6 ACU women's tennis team took home the Lone Star Conference regular season championship on Wednesday dominating Cameron just as they have the rest of the league all season winning, 8-0 at the Cecil Eager Tennis Center.
The Wildcats improved to 19-6 overall on the season and a perfect 7-0 in league play to earn the No. 1 seed heading into next week's Lone Star Conference Championships. ACU will vie for their fourth consecutive tournament championship and 21st since the women's tournament began in 1983.
ACU jumped out early with little trouble against the Aggies in doubles action taking all three matches.
After close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles the Wildcats would cruise to another shutout victory.
Julia Mongin would pick up a 6-1, 7-6 win at No.1 singles while
Jaclyn Walker would improve to 13-4 in No. 2 singles with a, 6-2, 6-7, 10-5 win over Julia Puckhaber.
Micah Hermsdorf would win her seventh straight match of the season at No. 4 singles defeating Sara Londono, 6-1, 6-2.
