SAN ANTONIO – The No. 6 ACU women's tennis team picked up a hard earned win over UTSA on Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center winning, 7-0.
The Wildcats knocked off Division I UTSA as they swept all three doubles matches and then followed suit with all six singles matches to push their winning streak nine. ACU improves to 10-3 on the season as the Roadrunners fall to 3-5.
At No.1 doubles
Julia Mongin and
Jaclyn Walker were pushed by UTSA combination of Peana/Silva, before closing out the match, 8-6.
In singles the sixth-ranked Wildcats won four of the six matches in straight sets as No. 3
Cassie Carver dropped the opening set before rebounding to win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. No. 6 singles
Natalie Friend was the other to drop her first set 3-6, but also came back taking the final two sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Micaela Silva pushed the Wildcats No. 2 singles
Jaclyn Walker as she won 6-3, 7-6, 10-8, to help ACU sweep the Roadrunners.
ACU continues action tomorrow at new Lone Star Conference opponent Incarnate Word, before closing out their road trip on Sunday in Austin at St. Edward's.
