ACU Falls to St. Mary's, 12-5

SAN ANTONIO – No. 30 ACU out-hit No. 11 St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon and was unable to take advantage of three Rattlers' errors as they fell, 12-5, in non-conference baseball action from V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats fell to 6-5 on the season as they open a nine game home stand over the weekend against Texas A&M-International. St. Mary's, who moved into the top 20 this week, improved to 13-3 with the win.

The Rattlers jumped out early on the Wildcats taking a, 5-0 lead as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first and a single run in the second. ACU would respond with four runs in the top half of the third inning, but St. Mary's would extend their lead again when a Greg Herbst double started a three run third inning.

Will Calhoun took the loss as he only lasted two innings and accountable for the first five runs. The Wildcats would send a herd of pitchers to the mound as Brent Bray went an inning giving up the three in the bottom of the third.

Brady Rodriguez and Kevin Justice both pitched a scoreless fourth through seventh innings. Kris Carlson entered the eighth, but was unable to record an out allowing a hit and two walks and responsible for the final four Rattler runs.

Duncan Blades had three RBIs for the Wildcats going 2 for 3 as Aaron Oliver and JR Roland also recorded multiple hits.

Will Calhoun did help his cause from the plate going 3 for 5 with a walk and a run scored.
