
Wildcats open with 3-0 win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Abilene Christian scored three first-half goals, and Elliott London made four saves in a 3-0 victory over the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Thursday in the season opener for both women's soccer teams.
Junior transfer Ashley Holton scored two goals for the Wildcats, while Canyon Randall freshman Andrea Carpenter also had a goal. ACU had 14 shots on goal while Colorado Springs had five, after the Wildcats dominated much of the first half.

“We had some great opportunities in the first half and Andrea missed a few shots,” said head coach Casey Wilson. “I think we dealt with the altitude a little after dominating the first half we struggled a little in the second period, but it was a great first match and way to start the season,” he said.
London played all but 17:46 of the game. Arielle Moncure combined on the shutout. Carpenter also tallied an assist on Holton's first goal before scoring her first collegiate goal. Sophomore Julie Coppedge scored the other assist on the second goal.
The Wildcats play Colorado State-Pueblo at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pueblo.
