Final Results
LAWTON, Okla. – Alex Carpenter and the ACU golf team both took home their first tournament victory Tuesday winning The Oklahoma Collegiate at the Lawton Country Club.
ACU defeated Dallas Baptist 5-4 to take the team title as the Wildcats shot an 817, two strokes better than Central Oklahoma. Carpenter picked up his fifth tournament victory and first of 2010 as he shot even par, 71 on the final day for a 202.
The Wildcats were two strokes better than UCO who took the title two weeks ago from ACU finished with an 817. Josh Creel for the Bronchos, finished with a 202 tying Carpenter for the individual title.
Cyril Bouniol shot under par all three days finishing with a -10, 203 tying for third place. Tyler Sheppard who has been one of the hottest Division II golfers this summer also was under par at -8, 205 finishing sixth for ACU.
Kyle Dickerson and Trey Sullivan finished the Wildcat scoring as Dickerson finished even par for the tournament at 213. Sullivan was +3, 216 earning a top 25 finish coming in at 25th while Dickerson finished 16th.
The Wildcats will return to action in three weeks when they head to the Division II National Preview in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The Shoals Golf Club which will host the NCAA Division II National Championship this spring in May.
