LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Abilene Christian men's golf tied for 11th place to close out the Everett Buick GMC Classic at Chenal Country Club on Tuesday. The Wildcats shot 7-over 295 in the third and final round to wrap up at 1-over 865, their best score in a tournament this season.
Thomas Buisson led ACU for the fourth time to begin the fall slate, recording his fourth consecutive top-25 finish as he tied for 25th at 2-under 214.
Preston Cooper joined Buisson under par in a tie for 30th place at 1-under 215, matching his score at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Host Little Rock captured the team title by 21 strokes at 34-under 830, while Lipscomb's Minas Manias topped the individual leaderboard at 14-under 202.
ACU shot fifth-best in the field on par-5 holes at 30-under and tied for the third-most birdies with 59. Buisson and
Preston DeFriend each carded eagles on No. 9 in the second round. Each Wildcat shot under par on the hole in all three rounds.
Buisson shot 1-under 71 in the third round, marking his eighth straight round under par, dating back to the Bayou City Collegiate Classic. He collected a pair of birdies for a 2-under 34 on the back nine as he rose four spots on the final day. Buisson tied for fifth in the field on par 5s at 9-under. Nine of his 12 rounds this fall have been under par.
Cooper logged a 2-over 74 on Tuesday, tallying four birdies for a 1-under front nine. Cooper and
Jack Hollingsed led ACU with 13 birdies apiece.
Tres Hill followed in a tie for 38th place at 2-over 218 with a 1-over 73 third round. He registered four birdies.
Hollingsed tied for 52nd place at 5-over 221, shooting 6-over 78 in the third round.
Preston DeFriend rounded out the Wildcats as he rose into a tie for 82nd at 17-over 233. He shot 5-over 77 on Tuesday with three birdies and an eagle.
ACU closes out its fall schedule at the Florida Atlantic Invitational at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on Oct. 27-28.
