ABILENE – After finishing No. 1 in the South Central Region a year ago ACU found their selves looking up from No. 5 to start the spring. Saturday the Wildcats took down the new No. 1 Incarnate Word as they swept a pair of matches at the Eager Tennis Center.
In a tough fought match the Wildcats and Cardinals battled back and forth, but in the end it was ACU taking a 5-4 victory. The Wildcats only loss in singles came at No. 1 and No. 6 while John Strahl, Luke Hawk, Bryan Joiner and Brett Proctor all picked up wins. Procter and Jared Hope picked up a win at No. 3 doubles for the Wildcats in a big in-region victory.
For the nightcap ACU easily took care of Lone Star Conference foe Southeastern Oklahoma, 9-0. At No. 1 singles Eldad Campbell got revenge, as did Procter helping the Wildcats to a perfect finish against the Savage Storm.
ACU has yet to schedule their next tournament, but plans for travel are being made for a spring break tournament to help bolster their schedule. Check back to acusports.com for more from men's tennis.
