
Wildcats Drop Matches to SMU on Saturday

DALLAS — Wildcat men's tennis fell to Southern Methodist University 7-0 on Saturday at the StyslingeAltec Tennis Complex. The Wildcats were unable to secure any victories in singles or doubles play.
SMU secured the doubles point with victories across all courts. The pairings of Jorge Aza / Merse Deli and Tomas Quesada Perez / Dennis Dutiné both lost 6-1. Luis Jose Nakamine / Ethan Scribner were trailing in their match 5-3 before SMU secured the doubles point.
Nakamine forced his opponent to a third set before falling 6-2, 2-6, 3-6. Deli won the first set in his match but also lost in the third set (7-5, 3-6, 3-6). Dutiné and Aza both played in a third set but eventually lost to the Mustangs.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will be home for their next two matches when they take on Wichita State University on Thursday and Lamar University on Saturday.
The Shockers from Wichita State are 5-7 this season and have a former American Conference Player of the Week in freshman Pablo Roche Alcaya.
The Lamar Cardinals are also 5-7 in the 2026 campaign, and just like the Shockers, have a former conference Player of the Week in the Southland Conference, Rintaro Shukuda, who is playing in his freshman year.
