BARTLESVILLE, OK – The annual post-season awards announced by the Lone Star Conference Tuesday night saw the Wildcats receive eight honors on the women's side. Seniors Jamie Meyer, and Jody Meyer received multiple honors to highlight the night for ACU as Jamie was named South Division Academic Player of the Year.
The awards announcement came Tuesday night at a pre-championship banquet in Bartlesville, Okla., where the LSC Basketball Championship tournament is set to begin on Thursday. Quarterfinal games will be played all day Thursday, with semifinal games slated for Saturday afternoon and the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Meyer twins were named First Team all-LSC as the honor was the second for Jamie, and a first for Jody. Jamie is a three-time all-LSC member earning honorable-mention in 2007-08. Jody was also an honorable mention selection last season as a junior.
Fellow senior Kat Kundmueller was named all-LSC honorable-mention for the second consecutive year as well. Kundmueller finished the regular season second in NCAA DII with 7.2 assist per game.
On the South Division All-Academic Team with Meyer were teammates Jody Meyer and Kathryn Kundmueller, plus West Texas A&M's Holly Isaacs and Joni Unruh.
Meyer leads the LSC in scoring with 20.2 points per game, which ranks 10th in the nation, and is 5th with 7.2 rebounds a game. The senior early childhood education major has led the Wildcats in scoring 16 times this season. A two-time All-LSC South Division performer, this is her third straight all-academic conference team selection.
Seniors' Joanna Harner and Sara Montgomery also earned a spot on the LSC South Division Commissioner's Honor Roll.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. All qualifying student-athletes not selected for the All-Academic Team are then named to the Honor Roll.
