ACU Finishes #8 in AFCA Poll

Minnesota-Duluth grabbed the top spot after a 32-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Bulldogs over Delta State to their second National Championship in three years. Delta State, who was unranked in the final regular season poll, finishes at No. 2 followed by Northwest Missouri at No. 3.
Albany State was No. 4 followed by Central Missouri at No. 5 who knocked the Wildcats out of the playoffs in the second round. Augustana (S.D.) is No. 6 and was the top send in Super Region II before being knocked out by the eventual champs UMD. Shepherd (W.Va.) follows the Vikings at No. 7.
ACU finished No. 8 was the highest Lone Star Conference finish just one spot ahead of No. 9 Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Wildcats and Javelinas were No. 1 and 2 entering the playoffs and both fell in their respective second round game.
Grand Valley State rounds out the top 10 just one year after falling in the National Title game.
The Wildcats finished the season 11-1 earning a first round playoff bye after the first 11-0 regular season finish in school history. The final ranking is the second highest for the Wildcats who came in at No. 5 in the final poll in 2008.
