PONTE VERDE BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore
Alex Carpenter led from start to finish at the Queens Invitational this week as he claimed the individual title. ACU placed three in the top five including Carpenter as the Wildcats also claimed the team title at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesday.
Carpenter and the Wildcats both led after two rounds on day one and finished with a +1, 73 to claim his eighth tournament win and fourth of the fall season. He finished six under with a 210 leading from start to finish.
Tyler Sheppard finished runner-up behind Carpenter after a 72 in today's final round. Sheppard carded a 217 to finish +1 for the tournament and tie for second place.
Cyril Bouniol gave the Wildcats three in the top five finishing at +4 for the tournament after shooting a +1, 73 on Tuesday.
The Wildcats as a team picked up their second team tournament win of the fall. ACU shot 19 strokes better than host Queens University who finished in second. Rounding out the final five was Barton College, Lander University and Florida Tech.
For the Wildcats Trey Sullivan finished just outside the top 25 as the final scorer for ACU with a 230. Sullivan carded a 75 in today's final round to finish +14 for the tournament.
