
Wildcats split matches at UNO

OMAHA, Neb. -- The ACU Wildcats wrapped up their season-opening stay at the Nebraska-Omaha Volleyball Showcase by splitting a pair of matches Saturday at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats (1-3 on the season) beat North Alabama, 3-1, early Saturday afternoon before dropping a 3-1 decision to Minnesota State later in the evening. ACU wiill be back in action Sept. 4-5 when it hosts the ACU Invitational at Moody Coliseum.
The Wildcats, who dropped a pair of matches Friday, beat the Lady Lions of UNA, 23-25, 25-20, 25-2, 25-17, before falling to Minnesota State, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-18.
In the win over North Alabama, sophomore outside hitter Jennie Hutt had 15 kills and seven digs to pace the Wildcat attack. ACU hit .209 on the match compared to .159 for UNA. Junior middle blocker Shawna Hines had 14 kills and seven total blocks for ACU.
In the loss to Minnesota State, Jordan Schilling had 12 kills and six digs, while Hines had 11 kills, three blocks and four digs for ACU. The Wildcats hit just .090 in the match, had seven service errors and saw Minnesota State drop seven service aces on them.
