Rafolo, Squillaci earn all-America honors


ABILENE -- ACU women's tennis players Aina Rafolo and Irene Squillaci have earned NCAA Division II first team all-America status for the second year in a row from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Rafolo and Squillaci have been one of the top doubles teams in the nation the last two years, and 2008 was no exception as they finished the season ranked No. 5 in Division II doubles, according to the ITA. Last fall, Rafolo and Squillaci won the Lone Star Conference doubles championship and also won the ITA Central Region championship. They made it to the championship match of the ITA Small College doubles tournament before falling.

The ACU women finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation and No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Central Region, while the men finished ranked No. 20 in the nation and No. 2 in the region.
