Follow Jeev Singh at the Master's
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Former ACU all-America golfer Jeev Singh is tied for 10th place after Thursday's first round of the Master's at Augusta National Golf Club.
Singh fired a first-round even-par 72 in his first Master's and is tied for 10th with, among others, Davis Love III. Jusstin Rose and Brett Wetterich are tied for the lead after the first round after each fired rounds of 3-under-par 69. Defending champion Phil Mickelson is seven shots out of the lead at 4-over-par, while four-time champion Tiger Woods is tied for15th at 1-over-par.
Chad Campbell -- the brother of ACU head golf coach Mike Campbell -- struggled Thursday to a first-round total of 5-over-par. Chad Campbell had five bogeys and one birdie in his round.
Singh was 3-under-par after his opening nine holes with birdies at Nos. 3, 6 and 8, pushing him as high as tied for second on the leaderboard. However, he started his back nine with back-to-back bogeys and scuffled from there, bogeying the par-4 14th before posting a birdie at the famed par-5 15th hole. He closed his round with a bogey at No. 18 to keep him out of the red numbers.
Singh will tee off at 8:06 a.m. (Abilene time) Friday as he attempts to make the cut and play on the weekend in his bid to win the green jacket that goes to the Master's champion.
