ACU adds top player from Mexico

Nunez added to Wildcats' 2005-06 roster

ABILENE -- Abilene Christian head tennis coach Hutton Jones announced Wednesday that he has signed Mexican standout Juan Jose Nunez to join the Wildcats' tennis team this fall.

Nunez joins an ACU men's team that finished 21-10 during last spring's season, winning the Lone Star Conference championship and finishing as the NCAA Division II Central Region runner-up to Midwestern State. The Wildcats lost just two seniors off last year's team, and will return nine lettermen to the 2005-06 team.

Nunez -- a 2005 graduate of Escuela Preparatoria de la Laguna High School -- ranked in the top four in Mexico in Boys 16s singles, and he ranked in the top 50 in the Mexican pro rankings.
