Wildcats finish ranked No. 24
Steenkamp, Jason Ray ranked nationally in singles and doubles
ABILENE -- The ACU men set a single-season school record for wins in a season, and it led the Wildcats to a final finish of No. 24 in the nation, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
The Wildcats finished 25-6 on the season on their way to winning LSC and NCAA Division II Central Region titles. ACU reached the NCAA Division II national tournament, but lost in the first round, 5-3, to Southwest Baptist.
Casper Steenkamp finished No. 36 in the nation in singles, and he and Jason Ray finished No. 13 in the nation in doubles. In the regional rankings, ACU finished No. 2 in the team rankings, while in the singles rankings, Steenkamp was third and Ray 10th. Ray and Steenkamp were ranked No. 2 in the region in doubles, while Trent Broach and Evan Puglia were ranked ninth.
