2024-2025: Cross Country – Alyssa started the year competing in the first three meets of the season,
always finishing in the top-5 of ACU finishers. However, she was only able to competed in 1 of the final
meets of the season, the WAC Championship where she finished 74 th over all and was the #8 ACU
finisher.

Before ACU: As a senior, Alyssa narrowly missed a spot at the state track meet, getting 6 th in the 3200
and 9 th in the 1600 at the Region IV-4A meet. In the fall of her senior year, Alyssa qualified for state and
placed 39th at the 4A XC meet. During her junior year, she placed 10 th in the 1600 and 11 th in the 3200
on the track in her regional meet. She was a 4-time district champion and was the District MVP as a
senior. She was a 2-year team captain and is the 1600 meter school record holder for Floresville HS. She
was also 1 st team Academic All-District and a member of the Academic All-State team.

Personal: Alyssa graduated from Floresville HS in the spring of 2024, as a A-Honor Roll member and in
the top 10% of her graduating class. She received the TX Milesplit Scholarship and the Floresville Booster
Club Scholarship. Her parents are Samantha & Hugo Garza and Jacob Quinones. She also has 2 sisters –
Scarlett and Cataleya – and 1 brother – Elijah.

Why did you choose ACU? The feeling of community and how genuine everyone is.
What is your favorite thing about ACU? Small classes, but still getting the big school experience at
football games and with campus organizations.
