Bryan Rainwater, who came to ACU from neighboring McMurry, serves as ACU's women's tennis head coach. He was promoted to this position several months after being named Assistant Director of Tennis Operations position in summer of 2020.
The Wildcats won nine matches in Rainwater's first sason (2021-22) as head coach, including a first-round 4-3 upset win over top-seeded Grand Canyon at the WAC Championships. Senior Illeana Mocciola and freshman Paula Garrote were voted to the All-Tournament team in singles for their performances. Rainwater also had seven of his players named WAC All-Academic.
Rainwater spent the previous two seasons (2018-20) as McMurry's head coach for its men's and women's teams. He also handled the University's NCAA compliance duties and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in April of this year.
Four of Rainwater's players earned spots on the All-American Southwest Conference teams following the 2019 spring season, and last fall Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell won the ITA Southwest Regional in doubles to compete at the ITA Championships in Rome, Georgia.
As a player, Rainwater was a part of McMurry's back-to-back ASC divisional championships in 2009 and 2010. He also was voted first team All-American Southwest Conference West Division honoree – all four seasons – at both singles and doubles. In 2008, the Fort Stockton, Texas native was the ASC West Newcomer of the Year award winner. He compiled a career singles record of 47-28 and a doubles mark of 54-24.
