2013 (Freshman): Spent the season as a redshirt at Midwestern State.

High school: Honorable mention selection to both the Associated Press and the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A all-state teams as a senior in 2012. Voted first team all-District 16-5A at linebacker and second team punter as a senior. Recorded 122 tackles as a senior to go along with seven sacks, 22 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a punt block. Also honored as an academic all-district selection.
