2009 (Junior): All-region return specialist for the Wildcats who worked primarily in the punt return game and saw time at wide receiver. Finished with 786 all-purpose yards in his first season with ACU, returning 24 punts for 370 yards earning first team all-LSC. Had 2 TD returns, both on punts, first came at home against Fort Lewis and the second came two weeks later against SE Oklahoma State. Caught 26 passes for 264 yards and two scores on the season. Caught first touchdown at East Central and recorded his long pass play hooking up with Mitchell Gale for 41 yards in NCAA first round NCAA playoff game at Midwestern State. Had a season high 6 catches for 80 yards in a road loss to Tarleton State and twice caught 5 passes, both coming in the playoffs, first in a win at Midwestern State for 77 yards and a score and in a loss at Northwest Missouri for 25 yards.
2008 (Kilgore sophomore): First team all-Southwest Junior College Football Conference selection as a wide receiver in 2008. As a punt-return specialist, Johnson averaged 22.3 yards per return.
2007 (Kilgore JC freshman): Played WR and returned punts in first season.
High school: While at Mexia HS, Johnson ran for more than 2,000 yards as a senior (2006) and scored 7 rushing touchdowns in one game. He was a first team all-district running back as a junior in 2005 and a senior in 2006. He was the district MVP as a senior. Johnson was an honorable mention all-state selection as a senior in 2006. Johnson was also a Super CenTex second team selection as a senior in 2006. As a basketball player, he was the district MVP as a senior and a first team Super CenTex selection. Played for head coach J.J. Eckert at Kilgore. Played for head coach Larry Adair at Mexia High School.
