2017 (Sophomore): Appeared in 8 games ... Recorded eight tackles, including three solo stops ... Added 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks ... 2016 (Freshman): As a true freshman, Smith played in 10 games, with starts against Houston Baptist and Stephen F. Austin at defensive end. He had 16 tackles, three solo tackles and a career high three tackles on Sept. 24 against Stephen F. Austin. Smith had 1.5 tackles for a four-yard loss.

High school: A dominant defender in the Houston area, Smith led his team to three straight district championships, the last two in District 23-6A. … A first team all-District 23-6A selection as a senior in 2015 after recording 10 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups. … He finished his career with 18 career sacks, 24 career tackles for loss, five pass breakups and four forced fumbles. … Selected to play in the South Texas all-star bowl and played in the Border Wars Game between Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
