2013 (Sophomore): Appeared and started in 10 of 11 games. Missed game vs. Tarleton State on Sept. 28. Ran back INTs for touchdowns against Concordia (Ala.) and Pittsburgh State, totaling 63 yards. Broke up four passes, including two vs. New Mexico Highlands and blocked a kick in the season-opener vs. Concordia. Credited with 52 tackles, 45 of which were solo efforts. One of his five tackles at Incarnate Word resulted in a six-yard loss. Made a season-high nine solo tackles at home vs. New Mexico Highlands.

2012 (Freshman): Appeared in six games. Made two solo tackles. Intercepted pass vs. Eastern New Mexico.

High school: First team selection on San Antonio Express-News all-Area Team in 2011. He finished his senior season with 44 tackles, 5 passes broken up, 6 interceptions, 23 receptions for 407 yds and 7 TDs. Chapa was selected first team all-District 27-5A at both wide receiver and defensive back.
