Helped the Wildcats average 508.0 yards and 37.3 points per game. Was voted honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference at season's end.
2010 (Freshman): Reserve offensive lineman with action in 6 games (0 starts).
2009 (Freshman): Redshirt.
High school: As a senior in 2008, Spears graded out at better than 90 percent for the season. Did not allow a sack as he was voted honorable mention Associated Press Class 4A all-state. Voted first team all-District 4-4A. Spears recorded 46 knockdowns and 24 “pancake” blocks. Spears was named to Abilene Reporter-News all-Big Country super team and Reporter-News Class 4A-5A all-Big Country team. Played for head coach Mike Spradlin.
