
ACU Jumps to Tie for Fifth Place at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas - Abilene Christian men's golf rose five spots to tie for fifth place following two rounds at the All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Monday. Tres Hill fueled the Wildcats in a draw for ninth place at 7-over 151.
Striving for its third consecutive top-four placement and fourth in its last five events, ACU begins the third and final round Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The Wildcats shot 40-over 616 with a 14-stroke improvement from the first round to the second, good for the top rise in the field. ACU began the day at 27-over 315 before upgrading to 13-over 301 in the second round.
The Wildcats are tied with No. 49 Rice and are one stroke back of fourth-place North Texas. No. 4 Arkansas leads the field at 21-over 597.
Hill was one of just six golfers to shoot at or below par in the second round, breaking even at 72. He improved from a 7-over 79 in the first round and rose nine spots on the leaderboard. Hill drew for second in the field with seven birdies, including four in the second round. He tied for second on par-4 holes at 3-over.
Colin Leonard rose 17 spots into the top 25, tying for 24th place at 11-over 155. He scored 8-over 80 in the opening round before bouncing back at 3-over 75 in the second, shooting over par on just three holes. Leonard tied for sixth on par 4s at 5-over.
Thomas Buisson drew for 36th place at 12-over 156. He led ACU with a 4-over 76 to begin the day before scoring 8-over 80 in the second round. Buisson tied for 10th with 24 pars.
Grégoire Hoyeau experienced the biggest rise in the field in the second round. He rose 29 spots to a tie for 39th at 13-over 157. He recovered from an 11-over 83 first round to score 2-over 74 in the second. Hoyeau tied for fourth in the field with 25 pars.
Preston DeFriend rounded out the Wildcats' lineup in a tie for 68th at 19-over 163. He shot 8-over 80 to get started before closing with an 11-over 83.
