Wildcats Slam Tarleton State to Win Season Series

ABILENE — The ACU men's basketball team used a second-half flood of defensive intensity leading to big-time buckets as the Wildcats secured a 73-59 come-from-behind victory over rival Tarleton State at Moody Coliseum on Saturday.
The win clinches the season series for ACU with the third regular season meeting to come in Stephenville on Monday night.
The Wildcats trailed 50-40 with less than 9:00 remaining, but closed the remainder of the game on a 33-9 run. Head coach Brette Tanner credited Ma'Shy Hill's two made free throws at the 3:20 mark with being the turning point where the entire team knew they would win.
Hill, a 45% career shooter from the line, pushed ACU ahead 55-53. The Cats then sank back-to-back 3-pointers from Cbo Newton and Bradyn Hubbard, and with 1:23 to go Hubbard stole the ball and hit Newton for a thunderous dunk in transition to punctuate the victory.

ACU and Tarleton State face off again at 7 p.m. Monday in Stephenville. This game was originally scheduled for Jan. 24, but was postponed twice due to an ice storm.
Fans can watch the game on ESPN+, and listen to Grant Boone and Ron Holmes on the ACU Sports Network.
