Honea Captures Sixth Career Title as ACU Finishes Second at The Lady Clerico

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Ryann Honea captured the individual title at Oral Roberts' inaugural The Lady Clerico to power Abilene Christian women's golf to a second-place finish at Hillcrest Country Club on Tuesday. Honea carded a program-record 11-under 205 to claim the sixth crown of her career, surpassing her previous career best by five strokes.

After setting Hillcrest Country Club's ladies course record with a 5-under 67 in the first round, Honea logged a 4-under 68 in the final round to cruise to a five-stroke victory. Her outing comes on the heels of a third-place effort at the Boilermaker Classic to open the season on Sept. 1-2.

The Wildcats recorded an 8-over 872, dropping out of first place as Southern Miss surged to the team title with a 9-under 279 third round. The Golden Eagles earned an 11-stroke victory at 3-under 861.

ACU matched its second round score of 3-over 291 on Tuesday as Julia Vollmer rose to a draw for third place while competing as an individual. The sophomore notched her second career top-10 performance with a career-best 5-under 211. Vollmer tied both Honea's course record and the program's lowest-scoring round, also held by Honea, with a 5-under 67 effort to wrap things up.

Honea collected six birdies in the final round to pace the field with 16 over the week. Her five bogeys were tied for the least.

Honea tied for the best showing on par 5 holes at 6-under while tying for third and fifth on par 3s and par 4s, respectively. The Wildcats led the tournament on par 5s by 10 strokes at 13-under. They tied for fourth on par 3s and par 4s.

Vollmer tallied seven birdies in the third round, good for a 4-under on the front nine. She tied for the tournament lead on par 3s at 3-under and tied for fifth on par 4s at 3-under. Vollmer's 13 birdies were fourth-most.

Maddi Kamas rose three spots to 11th place with a 1-under 71 in the final round to close at 1-over 217. She surged on the back nine with three birdies and tied for seventh in the field with 37 pars.

Kate Pickrell landed in a tie for 21st place at 223 after producing a 5-over 77 in the final round. It's her best performance since a tie for fourth place at last season's West Texas Classic.

Jasmine Do carded a 3-over 75 for the second round in a row to tie for 37th place at 13-over 229. She tied Marissa Loya for sixth on par 5s at 6-under. In her first tournament of the season, Loya rounded out ACU's lineup in 43rd place at 15-over 231 with a 7-over 79 on Tuesday.

The Wildcats return to the course on Sept. 23-24 at the Lady Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. ACU finished in fourth at the event in 2023 and eighth in 2024.
