Kamas, Vollmer Land in Top 10 as ACU Ties for Third at Red Raider Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf wrapped up the Red Raider Invitational in a tie for third place at The Rawls Course on Wednesday, its best finish at the event in three visits. The Wildcats fired a 17-over 305 in the final round to draw with UTSA at 26-over 890.

ACU was powered by top-10 performances from Maddi Kamas and Julia Vollmer, with Kamas placing eighth and Vollmer tying for ninth for the second season in a row. Kamas, an Oklahoma City transfer, earned her first top-10 showing with the Wildcats, while Vollmer landed in the top 10 for the second consecutive week. She tied for third place as an individual at The Lady Clerico.

Host Texas Tech captured the title with a 12-stroke advantage at 12-over 876, with the Red Raiders' Lauren Zaretsky claiming the individual crown at 3-under 213. The Wildcats and Roadrunners finished 22 strokes ahead of fifth-place Central Arkansas and two strokes back of second-place Houston Christian.

ACU shot fourth-best in the field on par 3 and par 4 holes, scoring 17-over and 31-over, respectively. Its 6-over on par 5s was good for third.

Kamas logged a 2-over 74 in the third round to rise seven spots in the rankings and close at 5-over 221. She collected a trio of birdies on Wednesday with even par on the front nine, tying for sixth in the field on par 3s at 1-over.

Vollmer continued her hot start to her sophomore campaign as she finished 7-over 223. She recorded a 6-over 78 in the third round while also scoring even-par on the front nine. Vollmer tied for sixth on par 3s and drew for fourth on par 4s at 1-over.

Ryann Honea followed in a tie for 12th place at 8-over 224 with an 8-over 80 final round. A week after winning The Lady Clerico, Honea tied for sixth on par 5s at 2-under with a team-high nine birdies.

Jiyu Han became the fourth golfer in the Wildcats' lineup to place in the top 20 as she tied for 19th at 10-over 226 in her season debut. She registered a 5-over 77 on Wednesday. Jasmine Do wasn't far behind in a tie for 24th place, her top performance of the season. Competing as an individual, she shot 11-over 227 with a 5-over 77 in the third round.

Kate Pickrell logged her best round of the tournament on Wednesday at 4-over 76, rising nine spots into a tie for 71st place at 24-over 240. Marissa Loya rounded out the Wildcats individually in 74th place at 26-over 242 following a 15-over 87 third round.

ACU returns to the course on Oct. 6-7 at the Prairie Dunes Invitational, hosted by Oklahoma at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
