Honea Named Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Women’s Golfer of the Month

ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf's Ryann Honea was recognized for her strong start to the 2025-26 campaign with Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Women's Golfer of the Month honors from the Western Athletic Conference on Friday. It's the sixth weekly or monthly honor of Honea's career from the conference.

Through three tournaments in the month of September, Honea, the 2024-25 WAC Co-Golfer of the Year, logged a trio of top-15 performances, including an individual title at the inaugural The Lady Clerico. She tied for third place at the Boilermaker Classic and drew for 12th at the Red Raider Invitational.

The Wildcats have finished within the top three at their past two events, placing second at The Lady Clerico in Bartlesville, Okla. and tying for third at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.

Honea has been named to the All-WAC First Team in each of the past two seasons, garnering Academic All-WAC and WGCA All-American Scholar distinction each year as well. She has earned an individual berth to each of the past two NCAA Tournaments, with a WAC individual title in 2023-24 and a runner-up effort in 2024-25.

Honea shot 3-under 213 at Purdue's Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Ind. on Sept. 1-2 to kick off the season. The San Angelo, Texas native logged a 3-under 69 in the final round following a 1-under 71 second round. Honea was one of seven golfers in the field to record an eagle.

Honea shined at Oral Roberts' The Lady Clerico on Sept. 15-16, carding the lowest-scoring tournament in program history at 11-under 205 to capture the sixth crown of her career. She shot 5-under 67 in the opening round, matching the single-round team record that she tied last season.

Honea also set Hillcrest Country Club's ladies course record with her supreme first round. She shot under par in each round, logging a 2-under 70 in the second round and a 4-under 68 in the third.

Honea carded a 1-under 71 in the second round of Texas Tech's Red Raider Invitational on the way to an 8-over 224 finish. She paced ACU with nine birdies on Sept. 23-24.

Honea and the Wildcats close out their fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday at the Prairie Dunes Invitational, hosted by Oklahoma at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
