Three Wildcats Receive CSC Academic All-District Accolades

ABILENE - Abilene Christian men's golf's Grégoire Hoyeau, Jaime Lewis and Preston DeFriend were recognized for their academic and athletic achievements with Academic All-District accolades from College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

To qualify for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 grade point average and have been in the lineup for at least 70% of their program's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship.

Hoyeau was also named an Academic All-America finalist and earned a spot on the national ballot to be voted upon by CSC members. Academic All-American teams will be released at 11 a.m. July 9.

Hoyeau was named an Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honoree in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns. He is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in finance with a 3.62 GPA.

Hoyeau received 2025 All-WAC Second Team honors behind a pair of top-10 showings at the Bentwater Intercollegiate and the WAC Championship, placing eighth in both events. He was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Men's Golfer of the Week following the Bentwater Intercollegiate.

The best outing of Hoyeau's career came at this spring's Oklahoma Spring Indy, where he tied for second as an individual. The Paris native touts seven career top-15 performances, including five top-10 efforts in the past two seasons.

Lewis was a 2023-24 Academic All-WAC honoree and graduated in May with his Bachelor's degree in accounting with a 3.94 GPA.

Lewis' senior campaign was headlined by a sixth-place finish at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic and a fifth-place showing at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational. The Johannesburg, South Africa product tied for 13th at both Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate and the Buckeye Classic, giving him seven top-15 finishes in the past two years.

DeFriend is working toward his Bachelor's degree in finance with a 3.85 GPA. The Lubbock, Texas native experienced a surge in his sophomore season, logging two top-10 performances at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational and the WAC Championship. DeFriend tied for sixth at the conference tournament as the Wildcats' top finisher.

Academic All-WAC honors for the 2024-25 golf campaign will be released later this summer.
