Cascos Earns Spot on All-WAC First Team

Abilene Christian junior Maria Cascos was named to the 2024-2025 All-Western Athletic Conference First Team.
Cascos played much of the spring at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles where she earned an 18-12 combined record between the two positions. Cascos found success when paired with doubles partner Olivia Sears. The two were teamed up for the final 14 matches of the spring and had a 10-3 overall record. Cascos and Sears won their final five finished matches, including victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal of the WAC Team Tennis Championship in April.
As a singles player Cascos took wins over opponents from Incarnate Word, New Mexico, Louisiana Tech, UT Arlington (twice), Grand Canyon and Tarleton State.
This spring ACU advanced to the WAC semifinals for the third time in their four seasons in the conference. In the seven seasons they've been eligible to play in a Division I conference tournament, the Wildcats have reached the semifinals five times.
It is the second postseason conference honor in Cascos' collegiate career. As a freshman in 2023 she landed on the All-WAC Second Team.
