The ACU football team will play under the lights for its first four games of the 2025 season as kickoff times were announced by Tulsa and TCU on Thursday morning.

It will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and Golden Hurricane, though ACU head coach Keith Patterson started his college coaching career at Tulsa. Patterson was the linebackers coach there from 2003-2010, and added the title of co-defensive coordinator for his final five seasons.

Patterson then went on to work as defensive coordinator at Pitt (2011), West Virginia (2012-2013), Arizona State (2014-2017), Utah State (2018), and Texas Tech (2019-2021). He was hired by to be Abilene Christian's head coach in Dec. 2021.

Patterson's 2005 Tulsa team won the Conference USA championship and the Liberty Bowl, and the squad will be honored with a 20-year reunion during the weekend of the ACU game.

The Wildcats and Horned Frogs have only faced off twice -- in 1925 and 1930. It marks the third straight season ACU will play an in-state FBS program (2023: at UNT, at Texas A&M; 2024: at Texas Tech).

ACU's first home contest of the 2025 campaign will also kick at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, against rival Stephen F. Austin at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium.

ACU is coming off its best season in the program's Division I era with a 9-4 record, a United Athletic Conference championship, and a 24-0 win over Northern Arizona in the FCS Playoffs. The Wildcats return the bulk of their defense, led by All-American Will Shaffer and All-UAC players Kaghen Roach and Chris Wright. On offense, all-conference tight end Jed Castles is back for his redshirt senior season. ACU led the league with 14 All-UAC selections in 2024.

Season tickets are on sale now, and fans who purchase early will receive first access to purchase tickets for ACU's game at TCU on Sept. 13.
