INDIANAPOLIS - Former Abilene Christian wide receiver Blayne Taylor ('24) signed with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, and took part in the team's rookie minicamp May 9-10.
Taylor signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in late April.
As a senior at ACU, he was a second team All-United Athletic Conference selection with 73 catches for 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns. His 73 receptions are third-most by a Wildcat in a single-season, and the 1,117 yards are sixth-most.
Indianapolis won that game, and Taylor was able to see the Vince Lombardi Trophy up close at the Colts' 2025 Rookie Welcome Dinner at Lucas Oil Stadium. Former Colts' head coach Tony Dungy spoke to the group of rookies along with general manager Chris Ballard, and vice president for team engagement David Thornton.
Rookie minicamp was held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center -- the club's headquarters.
Colts Ring of Honor member Reggie Wayne -- who played his entire 14-season career in Indianapolis -- has been the team's wide receivers coach since 2022. Josh Downs, Michael Pittman, Jr., and Alec Pierce led the Colts in receiving in 2024 as all three gained more than 800 yards.
Indianapolis will hold OTAs -- optional team activities -- in late May and early June before their mandatory minicamp June 10-12.
ACU currently has two products in the NFL: linebacker Jack Gibbens, and assistant coach Derron Montgomery. Gibbens played three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and signed with the New England Patriots in March, reuniting with Mike Vrabel who was his head coach while with the Titans. Gibbens graduated with his bachelor's degree from ACU, and then transferred to Minnesota for his final college football season in 2021.
Montgomery is entering his fourth season as an offensive quality control assistant for the Minnesota Vikings. He did not play football for the Wildcats, but finished his degree at ACU while working as a student assistant coach from 2010-2012. Montgomery returned to ACU for the 2017 season and coached tight ends and fullbacks. Derron Montgomery is the son of ACU football legend Wilbert Montgomery ('77).
