Box Score ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis dropped a 7-0 affair to No. 75 Wichita State on Saturday afternoon at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. The Wildcats fell to 2-8 on the year with the loss.
The Shockers set the tone early in doubles play with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 victories by their duos. Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli beat
Masha Vrsalovic and
Alice Klinteby, while Clara Whitaker and Sati Aubakirova snapped
Olivia Sears' and
Maria Cascos' three-match win streak together.
Wichita State's success continued in singles action, where the Shockers won each match in straight sets. Wang, ITA's 117th-ranked individual, took down Vrsalovic on court No. 1, 6-2, 6-1. Kristina Kudryavtseva followed it up by beating Cascos, 6-2, 6-2.
Tatyana Nikolenko clinched the Shockers' victory with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Klinteby. Both teams opted to play out the rest of the matches. Roselli beat Sears, 6-2, 6-4, while Theodora Chantava swept
Angela Del Campo. Anne Knuettel closed the afternoon with 6-4, 6-4 win over
Jess Board in the closest singles match.
ACU is back in action at 2 p.m. Friday as it hosts No. 58 Tulsa at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. The Golden Hurricane are 10-3 this season.
