DALLAS - Three Wildcats shot at or below par as Abilene Christian men's golf landed in 12th place following the first round of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday.
Thomas Buisson led the way in a tie for 18th place at 1-under 71, while Dallas native
Preston Cooper, competing as an individual, joined him in a draw for 18th.
Play continues with the start of the second round at 9 a.m. Monday. ACU shot 7-over 295 in the opening round, four strokes back of 11th-place UTSA. USC and Baylor tied to top the leaderboard at 9-under 279.
Buisson finished under par with six birdies, tying for fifth-most in the field. He shot 3-under on par-5 holes, good to draw for third-best. He shot 2-under 34 on the back nine with birdies on two of his final three holes.
Tres Hill logged an even-par 72 to land in 28th place, remaining consistent as he shot on par in the front and back nine. He tied for fourth on par 3s at 1-under and led the Wildcats with 12 pars.
Jack Hollingsed and Grégoire Hoyeau each tied for 63rd place at 4-over 76, combining for seven birdies. Hollingsed, a Dallas product, birdied on two of his last three holes.
Colin Leonard rounded out the lineup in 84th at 7-over 79.
Cooper remained steady with an even par on the front nine after scoring 1-under 35 on the back nine.
