
American Baseball Coaches Association honors ACU with Team Academic Excellence Award

ABILENE - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced on Tuesday their honorees for the 2023-24 Team Academic Excellence Award. Abilene Christian University Baseball was titled with this honor, as were three other universities in the Western Athletic Conference.
This is ACU Baseball's third year in a row and fourth year overall receiving this award. With a cumulative GPA of 3.44 for the 2023-24 academic year, ACU baseball is setting a standard for student-athletes, as well as future Wildcats.
To receive the Team Academic Excellence award, teams had to meet three criteria following the conclusion of their spring semesters:

Must be a high school or college team

The head coach must be a current ABCA member

The team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale for the 2023-24 academic year
The ABCA is a non-profit in the United States that serves baseball coaches at all levels. Founded in 1945, their mission includes educating coaches and promoting the sport of baseball. The ABCA hosts an annual convention and trade show, provides coaching resources, and advocates for the interests of baseball coaches across the country.
Under the direction of head coach Rick McCarty, his team demonstrates exceptional dedication to both their studies and their sport, reflecting the university's commitment to fostering well-rounded student-athletes.
