ABILENE – Abilene Christian plays its last midweek game of the season before heading to Grand Canyon for a three-game weekend set.

ACU Storylines
WAC Dogfight: After Grand Canyon swept California Baptist last weekend, ACU, Tarleton State and Utah Valley are in a three-way tie for second in the league standings. If ACU can take the GCU series, they would go into the final weekend in great shape for the two-bye second seed.

Firing Blanks: Abilene Christian is tied for the lead league and is eighth nationally with five shutouts this season. California Baptist and Grand Canyon also have five shutouts.
 
Sacrificial: Abilene Christian leads the WAC and is second in the nation with 36 sacrifice flies this season. Gino D'Alessio is sixth in the NCAA with seven sac flies.
 
Wins: Four Western Athletic Conference pitchers have six wins and two of those wear the purple and white: Iain Campa and Brett Lanman.
 
Batsmen: The Wildcats head into the week with two of the WAC's top three hitters. Gino D'Alessio leads the league at .383 and Miller Ladusau is at .376.
 
RBI Dude: Gino D'Alessio has a league-leading 52 runs batted in this season. It's no fluke. D'Alessio drove in 50 and 59 runs in his final two seasons at Quincy. He has 189 career RBIs.
 
On the Bump: ACU comes into the week with a 5.18 team earned run average. Caden Greanead leads the bullpen at 2.48 while Brett Lanman tops the starting rotation at 3.32 with Iain Campa close behind at 3.48.
 
History with UIW: This will be the first game with UIW since 2022 when the Cardinals won in San Antonio, 12-5. ACU has won the last three games played in Abilene.
 
History with GCU: Grand Canyon took two of three in Abilene last season but the Wildcats lead the all-time series 4-3. The games this weekend will be the first meetings in Phoenix.
 
Scouting Incarnate Word: UIW is 24-22 this season after dropping two of three at home to Nicholls. The Cardinals bat .296 as a team, led by Dalton Beck at .389 with 14 home runs and 57 RBIs. UIW has a 6.12 team earned run average.
 
Scouting GCU: After sweeping California Baptist to extend its winning streak to seven games, Grand Canyon is 29-18 overall and 19-5 in the WAC. The Lopes are hitting a WAC-best .313, led by Tyler Wilson at .377 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs. GCU has the best staff earned run average in the WAC at 4.45. Isaac Lyon leads the starters at 3.24. Nathan Ward leads the WAC with seven saves.
