ABILENE – The Western Athletic Conference selected Abilene Christian's Ja'Dasia Sims for its Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Sims, a junior from Rosharon, cleared five feet, 8.75 inches in placing second in the B section of the Texas Relays. Her height in the event is a personal record and ranks No. 1 in the Western Athletic Conference this season.
"Ja'Dasia is a phenomenal student-athlete, not only as a jumper but as a team leader and student," said ACU Interim Head Coach Nathan Meeuwenberg. "Balancing being an engineering major while performing at a high level isn't easy but Ja'Dasia does it well."
