Box Score STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State used nine hits and nine walks to take a 10-4 win in the Western Athletic Conference opener on Friday.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by
DJ Van Atten and an RBI groundout by
Caden Matlon.
The Texans scored four runs in the second inning and never trailed again.
ACU came up with two runs in the ninth on an RBI walk by
Jack Nielsen and a balk.
The Wildcats had seven hits and stranded 11 runners. Van Atten and
Miller Ladusau had two hits each with
Gino D'Alessio,
Zandt Payne and
Reese Borho adding one each.
Austin Glaze was charged with the pitching loss.
The Wildcats and Texans play game two of the series at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
