TUCSON – Abilene Christian, after having its second round suspended by darkness, finished eighth at Arizona's Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
ACU finished with rounds of 296, 306 and 295 for a 33-over 897. Arizona won the tournament at 19 under par.
Zane Heusel finished in a tie for 10
th at even par at 216 with rounds of 72, 78 and a blistering 66 on Tuesday. He eagled the 10
th hole and birdied holes 4, 6, 11, 14, 15 and 17 in the final round. He also birdied holes 4, 5, 8, 10 and 15 in the first round.
Charlie Jackson was 18
th at 220 (four-over) with rounds of 72, 75 and 73. He birdied holes 1, 5, 14 and 18 in the first round, 15 in the second round and 1, 10 and 14 in the third round for eight birdies in the tournament.
"Great performance by Zane and Charlie," said ACU Head Coach
Tom Shaw. "They really led the way for us and it was good to get a solid team performance under our belt as we approach the conference championship season."
Grégoiré Hoyeau had rounds of 78, 76 and 78 for 232 and 62
nd place. He had five birdies in the tournament.
Trenton Johnson went 74-82-79 for 235 and 72
nd place with four birdies along the way.
Jaime Lewis had one birdie while shooting 237 on rounds of 82-77-78.
ACU returns to action March 25-26 at UTRGV's The Big Texan in Kerrville.
