Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI – Abilene Christian put together solid pitching and 10 hits in a 7-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday.
Austin Glaze got the win after striking out seven and allowing one run over six innings.
The Wildcats got the lead in the first inning on an RBI double by
Gino D'Alessio. They added two more in the third when
Holden Rook scored on a wild pitch and
Garrett Williams came through with an RBI double.
The Islanders got within 3-1 in the third but ACU added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice by
Miller Ladusau and a sacrifice fly by D'Alessio.
Ladusau added and RBI single and
DJ Van Atten brought in a run with a sacrifice fly for a 7-1 lead.
Ladusau finished with three hits, Williams added a double and a single, and D'Alessio and Rook each had a double.
The second game of the series begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
