ABILENE – Abilene Christian wasted no time claiming a win in its home opener over Dallas Baptist, cruising to a 7-0 win on Saturday.
"I just think it was a really good effort by the girls today and we played consistent tennis all the way down one through six. I told them this morning, it's time to hit reset on our season and I feel like we did that. We knocked some rust off in doubles and then came out in singles and just competed super well. I'm proud of every single one of them. They played smart tennis and just played good all the way down."
The Wildcats got the doubles point with wins by
Olivia Sears and
Maryjoe Crisologo at No.1 and
Libby Blair and Eva Aranz at No. 3.
Crisologo, Sears,
Andrea Guerrero,
Masha Vrsalovic, Blair and Arranz all won their matches in straight sets with Crisologo getting the team's match-clinching win.
ACU returns to action at 10 a.m. on Sunday, taking on Texas-Permian Basin in the Teague Event Center.
