ABILENE - ACU and Stephen F. Austin have agreed to a two-year extension of their non-conference series that will keep the Lumberjacks on the schedule through the 2027 season.
The Wildcats will host SFA on Sept. 12, 2026 and visit Nacogdoches on Sept. 18, 2027.
"We may be in different conferences now, but continuing to play SFA in football and basketball every year remains a high priority for us at ACU," Vice President for Athletics Zack Lassiter said. "It's a great rivalry for our student-athletes, coaches and fans. I'm grateful that [Director of Athletics] Michael McBroom and SFA share that vision."Â
Following the Lumberjacks' sudden change from the WAC to the Southland Conference, ACU and SFAÂ announced a home-and-home series for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.Â
The Wildcats will head on the road to Nacogdoches in the regular season finale on Nov. 23. SFA will make a return trip to Abilene next year.
ACU and SFA first played each other in 1973, and have met 25 times with the 'Jacks holding the narrow 13-12 advantage.
Four of the last five games have been decided by five points or fewer, including a pair of overtime games. ACU earned a 34-27 victory at Homer Bryce Stadium in 2023.
