Season's Longest Road Trip Awaits Soccer

ACU Heads to Grand Canyon, CBU This Week

ABILENE - The ACU women's soccer team has an opportunity to climb towards the top of the WAC standings with a lengthy road swing beginning at Grand Canyon on Thursday night.

The Wildcats lost their conference opener to Seattle U last Saturday, 3-1. The Redhawks are one of four teams at 1-0 in the league, and hold the best overall winning percentage (68.2%) on their 6-2-3 record.

Now ACU begins a stretch of three road matches in-a-row with a trip to Phoenix on Thursday at 8 p.m. CDT, followed by a match at California Baptist on Saturday at 8 p.m. CDT.

The Wildcats will return home for the week before heading back out to play Utah Valley in Orem, UT, on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Lopes, Lancers and Wolverines all won their WAC opening matches and are currently sitting in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.

ACU tied Grand Canyon last season in Abilene, 1-1. The Wildcats have six games remaining in the regular season, and with a single-round robin conference schedule each succeeding match has more significance.

The Wildcats' next home match is Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. against Southern Utah for the program's Purple Out game.

Elmer Gray Stadium is hosting the 2024 WAC Tournament which will feature the top six teams in the league.
