ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian soccer garnered four postseason awards from the WAC, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. It's the most All-Conference accolades the Wildcats have received in the WAC and their most since picking up five in the Southland Conference in the spring of 2021.
Senior defender
McCarly Holloman earned All-WAC First Team honors, the first ACU soccer student-athlete to do so in two years. Freshman goalkeeper
Bella Medrano landed on both the All-WAC Second Team and All-WAC Freshman Team, and senior forward
Amelia Leggett joined her on the All-WAC Second Team.
"We're incredibly proud of McCarly, Bella and Amelia for earning All-WAC honors," head coach
Stephen Salas said. " Each of them has made a tremendous impact on our program and helped elevate ACU soccer to new heights this season. McCarly's consistency and leadership by example have set the tone for our group, Amelia's relentlessness and drive have energized our attack and Bella's dynamic play and competitiveness as a freshman have been outstanding.
"Their recognition reflects the service, excellence and discipline we strive for in this program and embodies what it truly means to be a Wildcat. We're continuing to create new milestones within this program and this is just the beginning."
Medrano became the first Wildcat freshman to land on the First or Second Team since Natalie Jones and Caylen Wright did so in the Southland in 2019.
ACU is on its way to its first appearance in the WAC Tournament in Orem, Utah, taking on tournament host and No. 1 seed Utah Valley at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Holloman appeared in each of the Wildcats' 19 regular season matches this season, starting 18 of them. She logged 1,694 of a possible 1,710 minutes and helped ACU record five shutouts. Holloman and the defense allowed just 1.42 goals per match and 1.90 goals per match in conference play.
Holloman was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 26 after the Wildcats registered a pair of 1-0 shutouts of Tulsa and Houston Christian. The Midland, Texas native previously received All-WAC votes as a sophomore in 2023.
Medrano was a mainstay in goal for ACU in her first year on campus. She played in 17 matches with 13 starts, clocking 1,340 minutes. Her three shutouts tied for second in the conference, while her 99 saves lead the WAC and are tied for 19th in the nation. Medrano's 5.82 saves per match are also tops in the conference and rank 24th nationally.
Medrano boasts a .818 save percentage to lead the WAC and rank 62nd in the country. Her 1.48 goals against average is third in the conference. She continued to lead the WAC in total saves (68) and saves per game (7.56) when conference play rolled around and was third in save percentage at .791.
The Lubbock, Texas product logged 15 saves versus Utah Valley on Oct. 30, the most by a WAC goalkeeper this season. She notched 10 saves at California Baptist and at Utah Valley, tying for third-most this season. Medrano was responsible for three of the WAC's five performances with the most saves.
Medrano earned Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Goalkeeper of the Week distinction on Sept. 16, becoming the first freshman to receive the accolade since 2023.
Leggett's three goals and eight points this season each tied for second amongst the Wildcats as she started each of the team's 19 matches. The Wylie, Texas native assisted on two goals and holds a .103 shot percentage with a .517 mark on shots on goal. Two of Leggett's goals were against WAC opponents, versus Southern Utah and at Tarleton State.
