ABILENE – Abilene Christian softball finished off its recruiting class with the addition Monday of highly sought-after Kaydee Bennett from Texas A&M-Commerce.
Â
Bennett will be a sophomore middle infielder for the Wildcats in 2023-24.
Â
"Kaydee is the final addition to our roster and will complete our team," said ACU Head Coach
Abigail Farler. "Kaydee is a great fit all around for us bringing speed, a great bat and solid defense to us. Kaydee is a tremendous fit for ACU athletically, academically and spiritually. Kaydee will compete in the infield and brings a proven, quality bat to the lineup!"
Â
Bennett led TAMU-CC with a .320 batting average and 18 stolen bases as a freshman last season, earning All-Southland Conference honors as a shortstop. She also made the President's and Dean's List, as well as the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Â
A native of Caddo Mills, Bennett was a multi-sport star at Caddo Mills High School. She was a three-time first-team All-District in softball, a district champion and a regional finalist in four track events and a school kills record holder and All-District selection in volleyball.
Â
"The culture surrounding the university was something unique!" Bennett said of her decision to transfer to ACU. "I love the inclusiveness as well as how the campus environment was centered around faith and those who are also on a journey with their faith. I also loved how the university heavily emphasized creating the holistic person through this college experience—not just become the best athlete, but also become the best Christian, student, and overall person."
Â
Bennett is the daughter of Kyle Bennett and Melissa Bennett.
