ABILENE – Abilene Christian wraps up the regular women's tennis season this weekend with stops at Utah Tech (Friday at 2 p.m. Central) and Seattle (Sunday at 5 p.m. Central).
The Wildcats come in at 9-12 overall and 3-4 in the Western Athletic Conference after splitting matches last weekend with a win over New Mexico State before a loss to Grand Canyon.
Eva Arranz, who has won her last three singles matches, leads the team with an 11-3 singles mark, including nine wins at No. 6.
Maria Cascos and
Olivia Sears also have 11 wins. Cascos has seven victories in the fourth slot and Sears has 10 at No. 3.
Maryjoe Crisologo and Cascos have nine wins at second singles and are the leading AQCU tandem in the wins column.
This will be the first WAC meeting between ACU and Utah Tech, which have met just one other time – an ACU win in 2009.
Utah Tech is 2-17 this season and 0-7 in the WAC. Raquel Roshack has five singles wins. The doubles team of Annamiek Sterk and Rachel Mellor leads the Trailblazers with six doubles victories.
Seattle ended ACU's season in the WAC semifinals last season in the only previous meeting between the teams.
The Redhawks come in at 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the WAC. Liliya Dimova has a team-leading eight wins – all at the second line. Mireia Fehr and Lola Tavcar have six wins as the SU doubles team with the most wins.
