NACOGDOCHES – After a lengthy rain delay, Abilene Christian headed home with a tough 4-3 loss at Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.
Scheduled for 10 a.m. in an attempt to beat the rain, the match was suspended for four hours with the match tied at 3-3. The LadyJacks got the win shortly after 6 p.m.
"Really long day," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "Tough battle for the girls. We fought hard but early mental errors put us in tough situations. Back to work this week!"
Maria Cascos and
Maryjoe Crisologo won at second-line doubles, 6-4, but the Cats lost the first line, 7-5, and the third 7-6 to miss the doubles point.
Olivia Sears, Cascos and
Andrea Guerrero claimed straight-set wins in lines three through five, respectively.
ACU returns to action at home against Tarleton State on Saturday.
